On October 2, 2010 Casa Serena celebrated its 51st anniversary with the 2nd Annual CELEBRATE RECOVERY! Luncheon. One

hundred and seventy new and old friends gathered under the tent at the Santa Barbara Club for an intimate and moving afternoon. Thanks to the generous donations of Santa Barbara Businesses and Casa supporters, the silent auction included trips to Montana, Wyoming, Tahoe and the California Coast, rare jewelry, precious art and exquisite meals.

The Mildred Pinheiro “Pillar of Strength” award, named after Casa Serena’s founder,  was presented to long time supporters Meredith McKittrick and Liz Hughey. Ms. Hughey’s dear friend Jane Russell attended to show her support, and accompanied by world renowned pianist Peter Clark, graced the guests with three songs. We honor Jane’s memory, and are forever grateful for her contributions to our community, and to the world.

The luncheon was closed by alumna Chana Ortiz, who shared the powerful story of Casa Serena’s impact on her life and her children’s lives. Chana reminded us all that Casa Serena makes a huge difference for women and their families.

Thanks to the generosity of Casa Serena’s donors, event attendees and our sponsors, the event raised $86,000 for Casa Serena’s recovery   programs!
